I had them for about 2 years before I gave them to my mum who literally wears them almost every day for 8 hours a day on hard surfaces and they still look (and feel) brand new. I also got a custom made pair of flip flops which I have hiked in and walked all over Europe in and they're still gorgeous (and 2 years old). I think it's like anything - if it's made well it'll last regardless if it's green or not. I can only say that the El Naturalista’s have withstood a lot.
