Hey!

I highly recommend The Mood Cure for supplement help when it comes to regulating your bod and sleep. Off hand I know Tryptophan and calcium will help to make you sleepy. A plus is that the Tryptophan will more than likely improve seratonin production too!
p.s. been drinking licorice root tea for adrenal support and swear by reflexology massage.

Just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying your blog -- and this post really resonates with me. I read Spent and think shutting off the lights and following the natural rhythm of the day might be some of the best health advice ever. Jayne - I love those mornings when I wake with the birds and hope to have more of them! Here's a good interview with Frank Lipman from another favorite women's health site of mine.

How funny. I have just this week myself decided to go to bed earlier and earlier, bit by bit, to try and change my own night owl ways. We'll see if I can change 20 years worth of late-night/late-morning habits, of also finding that woosh! of energy at 10 pm.

So glad you wrote this now. It's the dash of inspiration and internet camaraderie I needed. Thanks, and good luck finding the day rhythm.

I can wholeheartedly endorse this idea of following the rhythm of the day. I've been getting up with the birds for a few years now and find that the early morning is the loveliest time of the day. It's so peaceful when everyone else is still asleep and that silence allows me to gather my thoughts and start the day in a very gentle way. Of course that means becoming tired earlier in the evening but for me that's a small price to pay.

I can also recommend embroidery - it's slow, methodical and relaxing with something pretty to keep, or give as a special gift, at the end of it all.

I wish you all the best with your gradual transformation into a gentler routine.
